December Update

The plan starting December 1st was to take a week/week and a half, and give When Silverfish Dance  a read-through edit, and submit it to a few publishing houses and editors. Except, then I realized, most of those places have closed submissions until January! Oh, well. Anyway, then I was going to start the rewrites on Like Cracks In The Sidewalk-- really delve into it! Except, here it is the middle of the month, and I'm not even half-way through Silverfish (partly because I got to page 61 and realized I had to many 'had's, and started over). December is just a bad month for anything, really. So, new plan. Just do what I can do!

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. It becomes dysfunctional eventually, and James gets hints of it but tries to ignore it. The book is a single-person POV, told from James' perspective:  In the beginning of a new relationship there’s this constant need to be with the other person, to touch them, to kiss them, to hold them close. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! Rainbow Snippets*-- Changing Seasons

 We had snow again this week. Less than an inch and it melted within a day, but it still meant wearing layers and my nose running all day because my work station at the store doesn't ever warm up when it's cold outside. I'm shopping today and I have seeds on my list. Now, to decide what I want to grow this summer!
