Rainbow Snippets*--Trick or Treat Continued


Part 2 of my Headphones Halloween. In last week's snippet, Scoey was dressing in the outfit that Jay gave him. This week, he sees how everyone else is dressed:

            “Yup. I called that right,” he thought as he stepped through the front door of the bar to find he was almost the last to arrive. Lenny and Elinor looked like Shaggy and Velma. Richard could have come straight off the set of Easy Rider while Bets was a perfect Diana Ross. Marcus was dressed like Elvis, Mick was doing a passable Jim Morrison, and Headphones reminding him of a young Marlo Thomas. His mouth almost dropped open when he spied Honey. She was wearing a bit of nothing--showing off her long legs--that clearly had Barbarella written all over it. He wondered if the outfit was her idea or if it was something Headphones talked her into. Either way, every college boy that came in was going to leave with a hard-on.
But no Jay. Scoey debated running upstairs to see what the delay was but stopped when Honey nodded his way and said something to the tall woman standing next to her. A tickling suspicion filled him as he focused on the psychedelic mini dress with a zipper that ended just above the gentle curve of the woman’s ass. Oh, he couldn’t. He wouldn’t. And of course, he had.

 The details of Jay's costume will be revealed next week!

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! This week's snippet is from Embers and Flame (book 1 of the Campfire Stories series). The setting is a campground where Ben stopped after having trouble with his motorcycle. Rainbow Snippets*–A Little Ramble

January found me in a writing slump. Like Cracks in the Sidewalk had been released into the wild, and I'd finished my Headphones Vella. I have a list of "what's next" but somehow I've been in a holding pattern. A big part of that is my day job situation. The business I work for sold, so I'm in the same building, looking at the same walls, but I have new bosses with different ways of doing things–including a new grocery supplier and new computer system I have to learn. If new challenges keep our brains young, mine will regress to teenagehood soon!  I'm so ready for spring to get here! I need leaves and flowers!  One of my new projects is editing an older manuscript and publishing it on Vella with the hope that it'll be the incitive I need to finish the second part of the story.
