Rainbow Snippets*-- Happy New Year!

I don't make New Year's resolutions because I don't need the disappointment when I can't manage to keep them. But having said that, I'm making an effort to get organized. I started seriously writing in 2014 and I'm determined to make this the year I start publishing. So I spent January 1st building a website and updating my Blogger. I'm hitting the Headphones edits hard. And I've talked to an artist about covers for the trilogy. If I have a resolution, it's to be brave!


Peppercorn is still my #1 writing companion. He's just not so small, anymore.

For this week's snippet--every story needs a villain. In the Headphones trilogy, Annalise gets that privilege while Crissy is her unknowing accomplice:

Annalise threw her purse down and stared at Crissy, as if she’d arranged their great downfall. In whatever form that downfall might take. “Marcus says she’s sleeping with him!” Annalise spat out. 
Crissy wondered if she was missing part of the conversation. “Who’s sleeping with Marcus?”
“Not Marcus, you dim-wit. Micky. She’s sleeping with Micky!”
Still confused, Crissy asked, “Who’s sleeping with Mick?”
“That Earbuds girl. That mousy little bit of nothing.”
Now it made more sense. “Oh, you mean Headphones.”
“What?” Annalise glared at Crissy as if the drummer was the one talking gibberish. 
“They call her Headphones. You know, because of her headphones.”

    Heh, I'm already liking Crissy much more than Annalise, the latter who isn't coming off as jealous. Oh, no, not at all...:)

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. It becomes dysfunctional eventually, and James gets hints of it but tries to ignore it. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! This week's snippet is from Embers and Flame (book 1 of the Campfire Stories series). The setting is a campground where Ben stopped after having trouble with his motorcycle. Rainbow Snippets*-- Changing Seasons

 We had snow again this week. Less than an inch and it melted within a day, but it still meant wearing layers and my nose running all day because my work station at the store doesn't ever warm up when it's cold outside. I'm shopping today and I have seeds on my list. Now, to decide what I want to grow this summer!
