"Cracks" Update

10 days to go on the NaNoWriMo challenge. I'm just a few hundred words under goal, so I'm pretty happy about that. I've gone over the 30k mark, and my goal was to at least get that far, since this is my first time doing the challenge. Last week was rough--I had a couple of chapters that I reworked. I can't decide if what is going on around me is hindering me or if I'm using my writing as an escape. Maybe a bit of both! Anyway, I hit the 'bahm, bahm, bahm' moment of the plot, where my MCs have been torn apart, and now comes the part where I sew them back together. Fingers crossed, I might just do this!

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. It becomes dysfunctional eventually, and James gets hints of it but tries to ignore it. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! Rainbow Snippets*–A Little Ramble

January found me in a writing slump. Like Cracks in the Sidewalk had been released into the wild, and I'd finished my Headphones Vella. I have a list of "what's next" but somehow I've been in a holding pattern. A big part of that is my day job situation. The business I work for sold, so I'm in the same building, looking at the same walls, but I have new bosses with different ways of doing things–including a new grocery supplier and new computer system I have to learn. If new challenges keep our brains young, mine will regress to teenagehood soon!  I'm so ready for spring to get here! I need leaves and flowers!  One of my new projects is editing an older manuscript and publishing it on Vella with the hope that it'll be the incitive I need to finish the second part of the story.
