Rainbow Snippets*—Old Things, New Things

Image
I'm nearing the end of my Fangs for Everything journey. The last episode is up on Vella, the cover is back from the designer, and I'm working on formatting the ebook and paperback. Hopefully, the pre-order will be ready within the next two weeks, depending on how life goes, and then the book will go live mid December. Which means it's time to decide what my next project will be! At the top of the list is Three Times Better (working title), my attempt at a poly relationship.  Yesterday's surprise. The weather report never mentioned snow!  But it is giving my Holiday feels! The plot bunny for this one started rolling around a little over a year ago and I have lots of notes. For me, getting the first chapter right is the foundation I build the rest of the book on. I've been debating who's POV I'm going to kick the story off with--Milo or Chris. This is Milo's. I may end up writing Chris' also, just to see which I like better:  The music was all smooth...

Rainbow Snippets*--Beware the Ides of March

Image
I got my second shingles shot on the 15th, and then had a couple of days of not feeling very well (but it's still better than the pain of shingles!), meaning I didn't hit my goals for the week. But I'll get there, eventually!  Well, at least we got a couple of sunny, warm days this week.  I'm continuing from last week's snippet from Three Times Better . (One of my current WIPs.) Chris has just moved back to his hometown and is staying with his best friend, Scott. A week earlier, he'd gone out with a few other friends to a local bar, where he had an...interesting ;)...encounter, but hadn't asked the young man's name. Now, that same man is at the door:       “Do I know you?” Now that he was standing still, there was something familiar–        Silver mercury shot through Chris’s body. The bar, the young man dancing, wavy hair, heavily kohled eyes, clothing that fit like a second skin–the images flashed in a montage through his memory. The man he...

Rainbow Snippets*--The Times They Are A Changing

Image
My birthday was this week and it snowed. Which is appropriate because, according to Mom, I was born during a blizzard. Hopefully, this little cold spell is going to be the last of it. Now, to adjust to the time change.  Hopefully, the last snow we'll see for the next nine months! I'm snipping again from one of my current WIPs, Three Times Better . There's a knock on the door as Chris is changing clothes after a long day at work. He's not happy with the interruption. Note, Chris has just moved back and is staying with his friend Scott as he gets settled: There was a young man at the door and he gave Chris a hard glare before pushing past, not waiting for an invitation. “Scott here?” he asked, swirling around to study the room. What, did he thing Scott was hiding in a corner?          “Not yet.” The guy had turned, ready to search the rest of the house, but Chris's words stopped him.           “Well, crap.” He stilled and the energy h...

Rainbow Snippets*-- In Like a Lamb

Image
March came in like a lamb, sunshiny and warm. I even spent an hour on the deck, working on edits. And, yet, there is snow in the forecast this week. March weather is always a guessing game! Just a few more weeks and there will be so many leaves we won't be able to see the sky through the branches! I'm still deep in the Campfire Stories edits, but I always have other stories percolating in the background. One is an M/M/M with the working title  Three Times Better . It'll probably be a year before I work on it seriously, but in the meantime, I'm making notes and writing scenes as they occur to me. This is from this morning: “Hold your horses. I’m coming,” Chris called out as he pulled on his sweats after shedding the trousers he’d worn to work. He didn’t know what the stain was he’d picked up during the last inspection, and he didn’t care to figure it out. He just wanted it away from his skin.          Whoever was at the door, knocked again. “I’m coming,” he ...

Rainbow Snippets*-- Summer Vortex

Image
It's been another of those weeks that passed without me. I mean, it happened, but I wasn't very present. I never seemed to know what day it was, nor what I needed to accomplish--so not much got accomplished. This whole last year+ has been like this, but some weeks are worse than others. Anyone else feeling trapped in this vortex?  Dragonfly on a morning walk. After months of editing, I began to feel like I'd forgotten how to write. So I've been writing scenes for a M/M/M story that's been brewing in my head for awhile. Hopefully, once the Campfire Series is published, Three Times Better (working title) will be more than half done and easy to organize into something coherent! I'm writing it in third person present, which isn't something I've tried before, but I like to challenge myself: Scott follows Chris into the spare bedroom. “What are you doing?” Not that he really needs to ask, since Chris’ suitcase is open and he’s throwing clothes into it, not e...

Rainbow Snippets*--Hot Summer Days

Image
It's been a hot week! We finally got the leak in our pool patched (hopefully) and got it filled, so that's been my plus for the week. But the heat has also meant I've not been able to sleep, even with the A/C on. Or, I'm going to blame it on the heat. It's probably just my post-menopausal brain. On the upside, I discovered books narrated by celebrities on YouTube last night and listened to one by Tom Hiddleston. Who doesn't want Loki to read them a goodnight story? bright flowers on a foggy morning I've been working on a new project. Actually, I've been bouncing back and forth between two. My working title for this one is Three Times Better  (it's M/M/M), which will possibly change as I get farther into it. The story is third person and will include all three characters' POVs at different times. I've rewritten the opening paragraphs several times, trying to decide who's POV to start with. This is what I'm leaning towards at the moment...
