It's Bisexual Awareness month, and to celebrate I'm going to snip from my books with bisexual characters. I should have started at the first of the month, but there was traveling, accompanied by Covid. 1 star. I do not recommend! I knew this summer was going to be a challenge, and I wasn't wrong. I've had too many irons in the fire and it's felt like everything has gone a little sideways. No major disasters, but enough to feel like it's two steps forward, a step-and-a-half back. I got home from the Rainbow Readers Cruise last weekend—which was wonderful, by the way—but as per the new normal, I tested positive for Covid. I'm supposed to head to Kansas Wednesday for GRL, so fingers crossed I'm testing negative by then. I'd consider canceling now if I wasn't going as an author, but I decided to take the plunge and "just do it" this year. I have swag and books and preorders. Like Cracks in the Sidewalk is (finally!) up for preorder with a November 29 release date. Now comes the marketing fun. And yes, that's sarcasm. School started here this week. Where has the summer gone? Life has been so busy and I don't know when it's going to slow down. I'm at one of those turning points we all have in our life, but at the moment I'm not sure which direction it's going to take.  I'm snipping from Fangs for Everything since Woodstock happened 54 years ago this week. It always fascinated me, even when I was a kid. I was 5 years old in '69. Too bad my folks hadn't been hippies and gone! The story starts when 350-year-old vampire Artemis goes to Woodstock with a couple of young hitchhikers, and has just awakened in the back of his van after the second day:  When I woke up, I wasn’t alone. Alex was sitting cross-legged, humming and rolling marijuana cigarettes. “Hi! Happy holidays to everyone who celebrates at this time of year. We keep it pretty simple at our house. I learned long ago it's not worth the stress. If it doesn't get done, it doesn't. There's always next year!  Fangs for Everything released on the 15th, which did add stress to everything. The formatting program I use shuffled some of my paragraphs and I didn't notice until I started reading it on my Kindle. What a nightmare. I don't know why it happened. I've used it for all of my books and never had a problem. It's fixed now, but that took hours out of my already busy week. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la, la, la.  The snowmen on my mantel. December is proving hectic, like it always does. So deciding to release Fangs for Everything this month was maybe not the wisest decision! But, it's definitely in character. It's the kind of thing I do. The preorder is up and the ebook releases Thursday, the 15th. I'd like to have the paperback ready to go, also, but we'll see. I need to do a little more formatting for that to happen, and who knows what the next week will bring? Picture is presents from Christmas Past. So far this year, I've not managed to wrap even one! I thought once the Farmers Market ended, I'd have lots more free time for writing and editing. That hasn't happened. Looks like the holidays are going to keep me busy. Not sure why I'm surprised! Fangs for Everything is going up for pre-order shortly and then I have to decide what I'm working on next. I have several books written that need edits, a couple with partial outlines, and plot bunnies trying to catch my attention. But I think Like Cracks in the Sidewalk is at the top of the list. It started as my NaNo project in 2016 and I've learned a lot in the last 6 years. It deals with addiction and second chances and is much darker than what I normally write, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.    The story is told from James's POV: When I thought he was asleep, I slid out from under the blanket and sat up. I'm nearing the end of my Fangs for Everything journey. The last episode is up on Vella, the cover is back from the designer, and I'm working on formatting the ebook and paperback. Hopefully, the pre-order will be ready within the next two weeks, depending on how life goes, and then the book will go live mid December. Which means it's time to decide what my next project will be! At the top of the list is Three Times Better (working title), my attempt at a poly relationship.  Yesterday's surprise. The weather report never mentioned snow!  But it is giving my Holiday feels! The plot bunny for this one started rolling around a little over a year ago and I have lots of notes. For me, getting the first chapter right is the foundation I build the rest of the book on. I've been debating who's POV I'm going to kick the story off with--Milo or Chris. This is Milo's. I'm six weeks into my Vella "experiment" and although I'm not getting rich off it, I'm glad I gave it a try. I'm sure there is a trick to the marketing that I'm missing, but I've not had time to research it. I think that will be a good project for January and February--those months that drag! I'm still trying to get caught up after GRL, but it was such a fun week that the extra work is worth it! This week's snippet comes from Vampire Tim's first chapter. My summer consisted of cookies. So many cookies! I have a home baking business and I got invited to do the Farmers Market this summer. Between that and my day job, my writing time shrunk to about an hour a day. Forget social media–I barely was able to squeeze in marketing. I doubt it's the kind of thing most people even notice, but I changed the title of Fangs for the Memories to Fangs for Everything . It's been something I've been considering for a while because a quick Amazon search pulled up more than a dozen books with the title I'd been using. Ugh!
