Rainbow Snippets*-- Telling March Goodbye

The one good thing this week-- Spring is here! The Headphones series is full of tropes-- the other woman (but which one is actually the other woman?), friends with benefits, m/m slow burn, and age difference, which is Jessie (aka Headphones) and Mick's trope. I'm not sure that's what I intended all those years ago, but sometimes the story goes where it wants to go! So here is a little slice of Jessie and Mick:           She’d quit moving. Why had Headphones quit moving? The girl-who-knows-everything but-never-talks had apparently become the girl-who-knows-everything but-never-shuts-up, even when she was straddling her boyfriend. Mick had lost track of what she was saying, his attention fully on what she was doing until she froze.  “Are you listening to me?” she asked. “Uh, no? You kind of have me distracted,” he sputtered.  Her face lit up as she shrugged her shoulders. “Fair enough.” *Rainbow Snippets is a (Facebook) group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and

Rainbow Snippets*-- Lesson For The Day

I started writing Headphones when I was seventeen. It all got put in a binder and shuffled around for years while  I was busy raising my kids and working to pay bills.  But I never forgot. The characters grew and developed over those 30+ years and the day came that I pulled out all of those notes and decided to put renewed life into Jessie and the crew. At some point I realized I had a band that needed original music. And lo--there was a folder full of bad poetry I'd written in High School and College. (Admit it--we all have that folder somewhere.) So much of it was cringe-worthy, but I managed to use a line here and there!  Today's lesson--never throw anything away! (I'm ready for Spring--if the cold gloom would just go away!)  From chapter 4 of Sunshine Smile ( Headphones , book 2)-- The afternoon wore on, meandering and unhurried, until eventually the musicians of the group grabbed their instruments to play songs of Honey and Elinor’s choosing. Rainbow Snippets*-- Beginnings

I've finished my edits so now I'm doing a final read through of all three books that make up the Headphones trilogy, searching for those always elusive typos. The goal is to have it ready to publish by the end of the month. Fingers crossed! From book 3-- Fall Out. Richard doesn't know what happened between Scoey and Jay (and yes, it was a bit dramatic) but thank goodness Richard has Bets to talk it through with. Part 3 of 3. ( part 1 , part 2 ):  Richard focused on the thick patchwork quilt beneath them, tugging at a loose string. “It was obvious.”  He could still picture the two standing in the hallway, both soaking wet. The bathroom was a mess with water pooled across the tile and towels scattered in sodden heaps. He’d drained the tub and mopped the floor while Scoey took care of Jay. Whatever happened, it wasn’t pleasant. “I feel stupid that I didn’t see it before.”  “Are you okay with it?” Bets asked as she took his hand. The concern on her face was ent
