Rainbow Snippets*–Happy New Year!

And now we come to the end of 2022. Honestly, compared to the 5 or 6 years that proceeded it, I have to say it was a decent year for me. Were there some challenges? Of course. Money has definitely been tight. But I released four books and got to go to the GRL Retreat for the first time. And my daughter came home for a week over Christmas, which made my heart happy. I have a couple of trips planned for 2023 and a few book goals that I hope I can meet. For the rest, it will fall as it will.  The hall of banners at GRL! I'm snipping from Smoke and Sparks , a book I released earlier this year. This scene, told from Daryl's POV, takes place when he takes Vaughn to his hometown to meet his family and friends:  “It’s just a bar,” I stated. “Nothing fancy. Half the crowd will come straight from work. There’ll be everything from flannel to suits and ties. You won’t stand out.” That wasn’t necessarily true. Vaughn would stand out, but not because of his clothing. It would be because he w

Happy holidays to everyone who celebrates at this time of year. We keep it pretty simple at our house. I learned long ago it's not worth the stress. If it doesn't get done, it doesn't. There's always next year!  Fangs for Everything released on the 15th, which did add stress to everything. The formatting program I use shuffled some of my paragraphs and I didn't notice until I started reading it on my Kindle. What a nightmare. I don't know why it happened. I've used it for all of my books and never had a problem. It's fixed now, but that took hours out of my already busy week. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la, la, la.  The snowmen on my mantel. I prefer the kind that don't involve layers of clothes, frigid temperatures, and wet gloves! I'm snipping from a book I wrote several years ago but haven't published yet. (Maybe this will be the year!) When Silverfish Dance is the story of two men in 1973 who cook up a scheme to kill a man that has hurt them bot

Rainbow Snippets*˜— Christmas Countdown

December is proving hectic, like it always does. So deciding to release Fangs for Everything this month was maybe not the wisest decision! But, it's definitely in character. It's the kind of thing I do. The preorder is up and the ebook releases Thursday, the 15th. I'd like to have the paperback ready to go, also, but we'll see. I need to do a little more formatting for that to happen, and who knows what the next week will bring? Picture is presents from Christmas Past. So far this year, I've not managed to wrap even one! This week's snippet comes from one of Oakley's chapters. Tim the vampire bartender, has been volunteered to help Oakley out of a sticky situation, and he's taken him to his place. After looking at some pictures on the wall, Oakley realizes who Tim was in his former life. Told from Oakley's POV: “Oh, crap, you’re–” “Timothy Salvo.”  “Right. My brother was a huge fan. He even had the posters and T-shirts. You won a bunch of local com
