Brain Freeze

    I can't seem to get a good feel for Embers and Flame. I'm not sure if it's the world around me sucking at my soul or if it's the story itself; if maybe I'm just not finding the chemistry between my characters. It seems to come slowly, sentence by sentence, but I need to move faster. I've got a couple of other stories percolating in my brain. One's a stand-alone and the other is the prequel to When Silverfist Dance. It's basically going to be Devin and Nick's story just prior to when they meet Barry.
     So my plan is to go ahead with the Nano Summercamp challenge and see where "Embers" goes, and if it doesn't develop in that month, I'll set it aside and start on something else. Real life really does seem to be messing with my head right now!

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! Rainbow Snippet–The End is Near

That's not as ominous as it sounds, but I've got some big changes coming in the next months between this year's Farmers Market ending in a few weeks, and the business I work for up for sale. The end of Market means I'll be able to dedicate more time to writing, but the stress of not knowing if I'll still have a job in a couple of months is overlaying everything.
