Quick Update

I finished my editing rounds of Embers and Flame, now to write the synopsis and query and send it out. I'm really divided right now about if I really want to do that, or just settle on self-publishing and skip putting myself through the querying angst. I have so many projects bubbling around in my head and I'm not sure what I want to start on next. Logically, I started the Headphones rewrite and I should dedicate myself to finishing it, but I see that taking at least four months, and I really want to start on Cut Shot, Jeb and Ian's story. I may try to work on both at the same time--at least get Cut Shot started, and then focus on it as my CampNano project. Anyway, that's where I am at the moment, so time to take a deep breath and move forward!

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. It becomes dysfunctional eventually, and James gets hints of it but tries to ignore it. Rainbow Snippets*--April Showers (In May)

It's turned cold and rainy. We, oddly enough, need the rain. It's been a dry Spring. But I could do without this cool front. I want to get in the pool, but it's not going to happen for at least a couple more weeks.  Silver, our little lady, is giving me a pose.  Lindsey, from Cinders and Ash , has been featured in recent Rainbow Snippets, but she made her first appearance in Embers and Flame . At the time, my daughter had dyed her hair green, and I really liked it, so Cherry's sister came into the story with green hair. I wasn't planning on writing a series, but Vaughn, Daryl, and Lindsey all took on lives of their own. They needed their own stories. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! This week's snippet is from Embers and Flame (book 1 of the Campfire Stories series). The setting is a campground where Ben stopped after having trouble with his motorcycle.
