Rainbow Snippets*--Beware the Ides of March

I got my second shingles shot on the 15th, and then had a couple of days of not feeling very well (but it's still better than the pain of shingles!), meaning I didn't hit my goals for the week. But I'll get there, eventually!

Well, at least we got a couple of sunny, warm days this week.

I'm continuing from last week's snippet from Three Times Better. (One of my current WIPs.) Chris has just moved back to his hometown and is staying with his best friend, Scott. A week earlier, he'd gone out with a few other friends to a local bar, where he had an...interesting ;)...encounter, but hadn't asked the young man's name. Now, that same man is at the door:

“Do I know you?” Now that he was standing still, there was something familiar–
Silver mercury shot through Chris’s body. The bar, the young man dancing, wavy hair, heavily kohled eyes, clothing that fit like a second skin–the images flashed in a montage through his memory. The man he’d danced with and then kissed had haunted his dreams every night since, becoming this fae creature that he'd begun to believe, upon waking, he’d made up. In his imaginings, he was graceful and ethereal. Angelic. Not this twitching, agitated…kid.
But it was him, his dream lover, Chris realized with a shock.
The guy stepped closer, tipping his head up to study Chris, and his agitation melted as a slow smirk tipped the corner of his mouth. His eyebrows rose and his eyes twinkled. “Oh, yeah. You know me. But...” He stepped back and looked Chris over from crown to toe. “Know is such a subjective word, isn’t it?”
