Rainbow Snippets*--Father's Day Edition

Image
Fangs for the Memories is with the beta readers now, so the waiting begins. I'm doing a little editing as I wait, but I don't want to do much until I have feedback. Which means I need to pull out another project and work while I wait. It always takes me so long to really get into a new project, especially when my mind is still so completely involved with the last one.  I only got to walk once this last week. I need more hours in my day! This week's snippet is from Embers and Flame . I'm going back to it since it's Father's Day weekend in the US and Ben is a single father. This conversation is between him and his teenage son, after Cherry has spent the weekend with them. Told from Ben's POV: “What did you say to him?” “When?”  I truly hoped God loved smart-alecky teens because I wanted to pinch his head off and hand him over. “Yesterday, I’m guessing.” “I didn’t say nothing, I swear.” I gave him that Dad stare, the one where I hoped he believed I’d inflict s...

Rainbow Snippets*– Warm Weather Ahead

In writing news, I finished the first draft of Fangs for the Memories this week, so now it's time to give it a good edit and get it to beta readers. In non-writing news, the Farmers Market is going well and it's finally going to be warm enough to get in the swimming. And Lindsey has a thought about her "fake" relationship. Told from Lindsey's POV: We stood silently until there was a flash and I gasped. “Falling star! Quick, make a wish!” Making a wish isn’t as easy as it sounds. Blow out birthday candles, throw a coin in a well, tug on a wishbone, blow a fallen eyelash off the tip of your finger. But what does one wish for? Something frivolous or something se...

This week nearly get the better of me, between taking care of some Farmers Market loose ends and attending a Celebration of Life for a friend who died a couple of weeks ago. But I made it through, and I'm ready to hit this next week with gusto! My book, Smoke and Sparks , is available for free this month in the Romance to Read give-away. Find it, along with many other books,  by clicking here .      [As we kissed], I pictured the starlets of the old black and white films, a dainty foot encased in a pointed stiletto rising as her lover kissed her. It made sense to me as the itch reached my toes and they curled in my Nikes. I fought the mad need to shuffle my feet, to drag them across the ground, seeking relief, and I broke away, drawing in air even as a chuckle escaped, my inner fancies impossible to explain but so amusing to me that I couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across my face.     Daryl looked up at me, his eyes glassy and dazed until he ga...
