Rainbow Snippets*—Blind Ante

I finally settled on a project! I wrote the first two books of the Bar Games series several years ago, so I've pulled them out and I'm giving them a fresh look. The first is Blind Ante and the second is Cut Shot. Who knows if a third will ever get written? The planned book was F/F, but I learned with the Campfire Series that switching pairings doesn't sell well. I guess I'll rethink that one.

In my current WIP, Jordan is homeless, living in his car, until he wins an old trailer in a poker game. Today's snippet is his first look at the property. He's not very impressed but by the end, there will be more to the place than he ever imagined:

It was two in the afternoon before Jordan found his destination. A pit stop at a rest area for coffee and a restroom had turned into an unintended three-hour nap. He almost missed the dilapidated trailer even though it was only a half mile off the main road. There wasn’t a driveway as much as an opening in the trees. If the mailbox hadn’t caught his attention, he would’ve driven past. He sat in his car and appraised the tin and aluminum shack with a combination of relief and disappointment. It could have been worse, he supposed. The thing had to be at least fifty years old—more than twice his age. Back in the 1960s, it’d probably been quite stylish with its white, blue, and silver siding, but now it was just faded and sad with green build-up by the downspouts and rust stains running down from the joiners.
