There Just Isn't Enough Time!

 
 
           I wrote my synopsis and blurb for Embers and Flame:
Charles “Cherry” Andrews is trying to prove to himself that he can have a life on his own. His ex left him the couch, the bed, and the camping equipment. Replacing the city and hospital sounds with crickets and birdsong at his favorite campground feels like the perfect vacation, but instead of finding peace, he’s simply bored.
Ben Torres set out on a motorcycle tour of the country as a way to find his own peace after the death of his mother, but a bad baffle curtails his plans within hours of leaving home. Luckily for him, the guy in the next camp spot happily shares his fishing equipment as well as offering to play taxi.
An unplanned kiss on their last day together leads to an afternoon of discovery that turns into a summer romance that begins to feel like a long distance relationship. Everything would be wonderful if they could spend the rest of their life in a small tent next to a lake, but when Cherry’s concerned ex-boyfriend and Ben’s teen son become part of the equation, they fear that two-hundred miles may be too far. 

 And I wrote the opening page for Cut Shot, but I still think I'm going back to Headphones for awhile. I think I would like to try outlining Cut Shot because I've never done that with any of my books. (I do tend to pantser them!) But there are several different ways this one can go, and I want to work out which way I'm going before I get very far into the story. Plus, there's some research I need to do. So, yeah, I think I'll save this as my CampNano project. (Why do I even make plans? I never stick to them!)

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. It becomes dysfunctional eventually, and James gets hints of it but tries to ignore it. Rainbow Snippets*--April Showers (In May)

It's turned cold and rainy. We, oddly enough, need the rain. It's been a dry Spring. But I could do without this cool front. I want to get in the pool, but it's not going to happen for at least a couple more weeks.  Silver, our little lady, is giving me a pose.  Lindsey, from Cinders and Ash , has been featured in recent Rainbow Snippets, but she made her first appearance in Embers and Flame . At the time, my daughter had dyed her hair green, and I really liked it, so Cherry's sister came into the story with green hair. I wasn't planning on writing a series, but Vaughn, Daryl, and Lindsey all took on lives of their own. They needed their own stories. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! This week's snippet is from Embers and Flame (book 1 of the Campfire Stories series). The setting is a campground where Ben stopped after having trouble with his motorcycle.
