Rainbow Snippets*-- Trying to Focus

This week I finished the first draft of my Oakley short, which will be part of the Fangs for the Memories collection (if anyone wants to beta read it, give me a shout), but I got very little done on my Cinders and Ash book (#3 of the Campfire Stories series). I don't know if it's my slacking attention span (because of world events) or if it's because this is my first attempt at writing M/F –outside of the relationships in the Headphones trilogy, and that's a whole different animal– and it's been too long since I read one. I think I need to take a day and really try to plot it out (I'm normally a pantser) but at this rate, I'm not going to hit even close to my goal date. Sigh.

(I think the kits are discussing the foolishness of humans.)

 I'm continuing with an excerpt from Smoke and Sparks, book 2 of the Campfire Stories series. Lindsey has spent the night with her best friend, Vaughn, and told him that Daryl must really love him.  Part one and Part two From Vaughn's POV:

My breath hitched at the “L” word. She didn’t mean it literally, I’m sure, but still, it caught me unaware. He didn’t love me. It was lust. And attraction. And curiosity. Nothing more. 
“You kind of stink,” she said as she shoved me towards the edge of the mattress. “Go take a shower and I’ll start the coffee.”
There were water spots on the floor and a wet towel hanging on the rack. Daryl must have gotten up already. I washed last night’s sweat off my body and shampooed the gunk out of my hair and dressed quickly, impatient and anxious to see him, both at the same time. Would he be mad? Indifferent? Or was Lindsey right?

I'm snipping again from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . I said a few weeks ago that I was changing tense, but as I got farther into the story, I realized the way I'd written it originally does work better. So, although I still have plenty of work ahead of me, it's maybe not as much as I'd imagine.  James and Val met and moved in together, although they never really defined their relationship. Rainbow Snippets*--More Squirrel Tales

It's been a slow writing week-- I think too much time was spent taking care of Peanut. He appeared to be using his back legs more, but we couldn't get a good feel for it since the "medi hutch" consisted of two bird cages that we wired together. But with a little elbow grease and some scrap lumber, the husband built a squirrel house and we crossed our fingers and released Peanut from his make-shift hospital.  He's moved right in. He scampers up and down the tree, albeit with a slightly awkward gait. We take him treats and there's a water bowl on "the deck". He's quite pampered...  ...and happy! This week's snippet is from Embers and Flame (book 1 of the Campfire Stories series). The setting is a campground where Ben stopped after having trouble with his motorcycle. Rainbow Snippets*-- Changing Seasons

 We had snow again this week. Less than an inch and it melted within a day, but it still meant wearing layers and my nose running all day because my work station at the store doesn't ever warm up when it's cold outside. I'm shopping today and I have seeds on my list. Now, to decide what I want to grow this summer!
