Seaking Beta Readers Cut Shot

This will be a first round of beta reads. As such, there is very little in the way of editing. (Why edit when I'll be rewriting whole sections?) This is the second book in the Bar Games series. Jed plays a major role in the first book, Blind Ante, but hopefully, this will work as a stand alone. Saying that, I do tend to closely weave books in a series together and reading the first will fill in some gaps that may have not been fully explained.

This book is Jed's redemption. He was meant to be the bad guy in the first book, but as I wrote him and thought about his motivation, I realized he wasn't bad. Just a little broken. The two books are very different, but if you are interested, let me know and I'll let you read the first one, as well.

Cut Shot– 60k, There is some slight kink (Jed holding Ian down, spanking during sex in one scene). There is also a family member's death as a main plot point.

Blurb:

After 15 years of traveling with his crew of roughnecks, Jedidiah Wheeler is tired of living out of motels. His best friend's upcoming wedding and a chance encounter with a past lover have Jed rethinking his life. Returning home to help his widowed mother means being close to his family, but it also means facing things from his past and going back into the closet.

Ian Jacobs made a promise to himself–he'll never be in a relationship he has to hide. Still, he can't stop flirting with the prickly guy with all the muscles. He's gorgeous, and a groomsman in his cousin's wedding. After a scorching kiss, he finds his resolve crumbling.

As the heat between the two builds, they throw caution to the wind. It's exciting and fun, until feelings get in the way. Quick tumbles in the cab of Jed's truck are good enough for now, but there's no future in it. What Ian needs, Jed can't offer. Jed's family is everything to him and the potential of a future isn't enough for Ian. Is it an impasse neither can see a way around?

I'm looking for basic feedback: character development and story flow. Contact me at sadiejaywrites@gmail.com or FB Messenger if you are interested or have questions

I will probably rewrite this blurb after I finish the book rewrite, so any suggestions are welcome.
