Rainbow Snippets*–Here Comes December

It seems the last few years, at the end of November and first of December, we get cold weather and snow. It feels very Christmasy, but it's too early. Come Christmas, it'll warm up and feel very much not Christmasy. Sigh.  



This week's snippet is taken from my current WIP, Delicious. Strange things are happening at Grady's house, and Hanson keeps telling him it's just the house settling. Little spoiler—it's not! Told from Grady's POV:

We stared at each other in silence, neither sure who was supposed to move or say something first, until the tension was so tangible, I could have strummed my fingers over it like guitar strings. “This is ridiculous,” I muttered as I closed the space between us. With my hand cupping the back of his head, I pulled him forward, crashing my lips into his. The kiss was short, but we were both panting when it ended. “Ready to go deghost my house?”
“Deghost? Really?”
“Yup. I’ve decided I have a ghost. Unless you can prove otherwise.”

I don't have words for this last week. So I'm just going to leave it at that. I did go spend the night with my daughter and her partner over the weekend (they live 3 hours away). Sometimes you just need your family.  This weekend's snippet comes from Like Cracks in the Sidewalk . It's 1995. James and Val are taking a walk during the early days of their relationship. Rainbow Snippets*--Autopilot

This whole year has been unsettled (probably because of my day job situation) and I feel like I'm slogging through water on autopilot. It's definitely been one thing after another, with this last week being filled with hospital stays and doctors' appointments for my mom. Sadly, it has left little time to devote to my writing. I had every intention of publishing Blind Ante and Cut Shot months ago and then hit Delicious hard, but life said no. Hopefully, I'll be looking for beta readers for the first two very soon. Deep breath, right? Things will get better.  The last chapter of Blind Ante , before the epilogue, takes place on Thanksgiving day. (And since it's Thanksgiving week in the USA...) Rainbow Snippets*-- More from Delicious

It's 4th of July weekend here in the US. I used to really like it, back when I was younger. We'd have a cook-out with friends, or go camping, then in the evening go watch fireworks. But also, back then, fireworks without a license were illegal in my state, and in my town. It's not now. And , it's not just one night of my neighbors setting off bang after bang late into the night. No, it's a week of it. It's a week of little sleep, since my jobs usually require being up by 5 am. I'm too old for this! I need my sleep.     The sun breaking through the trees during a recent walk at the local Nature Center.  This week's Snippet comes from my current WIP, Delicious .
